Cropping is an essential part of image editing. It's the one most basic thing you can do to enhance your image, and I just don't know how anyone could do without it. So, I've prepared a easy to follow tutorial on how to crop your images with Corel Photo-Paint.

First, start with the image. The one I have selected is an o.k. picture, not very centered on the subject however, and with allot of distracting background. That is what we will fix.

Now we select the crop tool on the sidebar.

Drag the tool to frame your subject.

Use the nodes to adjust the fit of the box around your cropping area.

If you need a very specific ratio, like, say, a perfect square, enter equal values in the width and height boxes. The exact size doesn't matter, you can stretch the box with the nodes if it doesn't fit exactly.

When you are satisfied with the selection, double click inside the box.
Cropping images is handy especially when you have a limit on your file size, say when you want to upload an avatar or image to a site, or when you need a specific sized image, like a square, to fit in your windows icon space. It also works wonder for just improving the balance of an image.

When done, go to File, Save As... and save it! Yay! Your image is now many times better, thanks to a little cropping!
